Day 6 Devotion – Come!!

Come, let us return to the Lord; for he has torn us, that he may heal us; he has struck us down, and he will bind us up. After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live before him. Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.

Hosea 6:1-3

The Call of the Lord today is simply to “Come!” To answer the call to come is to purpose to leave that which now holds us. Paul quoted Isaiah, asking the Corinthian church to “Come out from among them and be separate, touch no unclean thing, and I will come to you…” (2 Cor. 6:17) When you gaze at the face of Jesus our Lord you will want to leave all the unclean things behind.

But many will ask, “How can God allow all this trouble, pain and sorrow?” God may lovingly ‘tear us, that He may heal us’! When our pride is built up a ‘striking down’ must precede a building up. Then soon, brother or sister, soon the Lord will come to us as we come to Him to bring refreshing revival to our souls. The first and second ‘day’ may seem long, but the third day is coming! Then He will raise us up that we may live with Him!

So many things change when we forsake sin and come to the Lord! Where we were living for self, now to live is Christ. Where we would seek our fame, now we do all to the glory of God. Where our focus was on earthly treasure, now we lay up treasure in heaven. Where we delighted in earthly pleasure, now in His Presence is fullness of joy!

Today let us depart from the fruitless deeds of darkness and come into his light. Let us pray with King David, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you.”
