Day 4 Devotion – What are You Seeking?

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness,
and all these things will be added to you.

Matthew 6:33

A clear indicator of my fallen complacency that displeases the Lord is revealed by a close look at those things my heart seeks. How much of my energy is spent seeking approval, money, position, power, pleasure, entertainment, worldly success, and self-fulfillment?

Oh my heart! Plow through the dark shadows of murky seeking and wanting and push aside all desires that are not from your Lord! To experience revival is to seek the Lord with all your heart and soul!

Here we are told specifically what we must passionately pursue. First, the KINGDOM of GOD. The Kingdom of God is that place where Jesus reigns. Therefore it is that place that is ruled and defined by Christ our Lord. It is sacrificial love, holiness, purity, real joy, service and constant worship. It is the desire to fulfill every, even the slightest command of our Lord Jesus.

And second, the most forgotten word perhaps in the so called Christian culture. We are to passionately seek RIGHTEOUSNESS. The only way to follow “The Holy One of Israel” is to be holy. “So be holy in all you do” is the way of repentance. You can not produce your own righteousness but you can put on the righteousness of Christ.

Ask the Holy Spirit today to reveal the misplaced affections of your heart and redirect them to the place of God’s Kingdom and Righteousness.
